More About Me

Galleries

On this site, you will see a number of galleries. The first is international travel (Iceland, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Argentina, Jordan, Egypt). Some of the images from these locations may also be under Children Around the World or Wildlife. I was not a trained photographer when I traveled to Jordan or lived in Egypt, but some of the photographs I took were so captivating in content that I have included them.

The second set of galleries (Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Michigan) are US travel. I grew up in Pennsylvania, so I go there a lot and spend quite a bit of time shooting rural landscapes. I also included small galleries of Kentucky and Michigan.

The third set of galleries (Chitown, Austin, Vortex, In and Around the Green Line, Chicago Youth Out and About) are all Chicago based. I began with a project that focused on the Green (el) line of Chicago. I expanded it to include more of the neighborhood around the western part of the Green Line, called Austin. I was especially attracted to the photos of youth and plan to expand that project to include youth in other parts of the city. The Vortex images were taken the day after the polar vortex of 2019. The temperature that day was 6°. I left home about 6:15 am and headed for the lakefront. I got off lake shore drive south of McCormick Place to try to capture the frozen feel of the lakefront. In addition to it being sunrise, there was a freshly fallen, wind blown snow. I chose these because they epitomize the frozen, stark, and often beautiful aura of winter.
